How was a piece of furniture made 150 years ago, before mass production and overseas shipping? We wanted to build more like that (with a few modern tweaks, of course).
We craft our furniture in North Carolina and California, and each piece is made especially for you when you order it. We think that’s best for a few reasons:
We know that our craftsmanship is up to our high standards.
From classic joinery and crisp upholstery seams to corner-blocked frames, our workers' time-honored building techniques create furniture that lasts and age beautifully.
We have a deep understanding of the materials that go into our furniture.
Sourcing from sustainable textile mills, ethically-managed forests, and certification organizations, our domestic production partners help us work with the highest quality materials we can find.
We can support American manufacturing and lower our carbon footprint.
Supporting local workers and communities is important to us, and we do so whenever we can. Building in the United States also means our materials and products travel less to come together, lowering our—and your—environmental footprint.

Enduring Durability
Here's what we do to make sure your furniture will maintain its support, shape, comfort, and beauty over time.
Lasting, tough frames
Kiln-dried, FSC-Certified wood and classic joint construction contributes to long-term frame durability, while corner blocking (extra pieces of wood placed at an angle and screwed into place on the sofa frame’s corners) provide extra stability. No wiggle-wobbling! P.S: we offer a lifetime warranty on frames.
Sag-free suspension
Our proprietary hand-tied arch suspension system expands on traditional sinuous spring systems by using higher-quality heavy gauge springs as a foundation, creating a truly supportive, comfortable sit that prevents sagging and squeaking.
Comfy, resilient cushions
Our foams and fillings are known for their comfort, responsiveness, and ability to retain shape over time: no sagging here!
Crisp, quality upholstery
We take extra care to use the highest quality materials for anything that stretches, wears and softens over time, like fabrics.
Special details
From classic joinery to chamfered edging, you’ll always find unique, handcrafted details across our furniture. We hope you'll love these details forever—and to back up that claim, we offer several warranties: a lifetime warranty on our frames, a 10-year warranty on fillings, and a 5-year warranty on fabric upholstery.
